About Dayler

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I like to play the guard position with intensity and attention to detail. I am a pass-first shooter who led my team in rebounds, assists and points the last two years (my sophomore and junior season). I love the game of basketball and I feel like my best asset is my attitude and the fact that I am a good team mate.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is I always got next. No matter what the adversity (foul trouble or injury or tough opponent) I stay ready to grind and get to work. I think I have high basketball IQ and that translates to my ability to read defenses and find the open man or attack the rim or take my shot. I am constantly working on my game and watching others so that I can improve.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I volunteer regularly with my family and through church. I am an Honors Student.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have learned how to be a leader and a captain as a varsity starter since the 10th grade. I believe that knowing what motivates each of my team mates is the best way to help them perform their best on and off the court. I have also been the Flight 1 tennis one seed since my freshman year and have been competing on the varsity team since the 8th grade. Tennis has taught me how to compete.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have faced challenges I don't wish on anyone. When I was 11 my father took his own life on my birthday. He left my mom and my two brothers to fight for everything we have. I learned to love my family with my entire heart and soul. I learned to lean on God. I learned I was stronger than I ever thought. Mostly I learned that being mentally healthy is as important as being physically fit.

What type of college are you looking for?

I would love to play basketball at the next level. I have had some interest at the Division 2 and Division 3 level and would entertain playing anywhere that the coach wants me. I have been working hard to achieve this goal since I can remember.
