Great second half that helped bust the game open. Hunter on defense, who thrived in their full court pressure. Looks for the same opportunities when crashing the glass with the way he gets off the floor for offensive rebounds. Has a good second jump with high elevation that helps in these scenarios. Looks to create for others when pushing in transition, had some nice finds. Quality all around guard, who’s plus athletic ability can change games.

Athletic, multi faceted guard prospect. Had a super strong sophomore year as the main man at Southeast. Now steps into an intriguing John Marshall roster that should be a darkhorse to make noise in 5A. Should have more opportunity to be a playmaker, continuing to become more of a combo guard. Scoring still his primary trait, especially with the high release point on his jumper and his ability to do damage in the mid-range.

Even though Chaffin is one of the few returnees for a young Spartan squad, the sophomore is still having a strong individual year. The shifty guard is a strong scorer in the mid-range and at the rim. To go along with his shiftiness, he’s starting to becoming bouncy. Indicating that with his good size, Chaffin could be an above the rim finisher down the road. Another interesting aspect to his development this year is his increased responsibility on the ball has led to more production via assists, with fancy playmaking in transition.

Another 2026 prospect in the 16u Division, Chaffin has the combination of wingspan and athleticism to be effective as an off guard. He’s a versatile player thanks to the natural traits, and during a Sunday morning contest he shot it particular well from catch and shoot opportunities.

. The Southeast standout is one that we wrote about quite a few times during the offseason. The Spartans made a run to the Class 5A semifinals a year ago and they bring back the majority of their production from last season. Adding a freshman like Chaffin to the mix is going to give Southeast more depth and ability to not lose any scoring when getting some of their upperclassmen a rest during moments in a game. Chaffin was one of the better players we saw playing on the Prep Hoops Circuit during the summer. He also showed that he can be an impactful player with his high school team already. Chaffin played with the Spartans at various team camps during June and found a way onto the court. Chaffin is definitely a name to keep an eye on as the Spartans will be in the mix again in Class 5A.
