Brother Rice ended up winning a tight contest over Toledo St Francis to advance to the semifinals and Williams made some key shots on the wing to help his team. With a strong frame and huge legs, Williams has a college ready body to play on or off the ball as a guard. With that frame Williams drew a few fouls as he is able to take contact and play off of it. I was impressed with the overall physicality and unselfishness Brother Rice played with on Saturday.

I’ll just come out and say it – Williams should be on a lot of recruiting boards right now. He’s simply one of the best pure passers in the state. Williams reads defenses and makes the right pass at the right time and on target. He can hit an open shooter in the pocket and dish the ball to a cutter in stride.

Brother Rice is in the house…..again. But if you’ve seen Williams play, you know why he’s here. Defending a pin point pass is one of the toughest things to do in basketball and Williams is one of the best pure passers in the state. His ability to distribute the ball is scary good.

Williams would be a must see lead guard at The Expo. Quite frankly, I thought he was one of the best passers and floor generals in the state last year. Williams consistently got the ball to scorers in scoring positions. I think he could be a steal at the next level and college coaches should line up at the chance to see him showcase his skills.

College coaches, you can thank me later. He was able to stand out last high school season as a junior on one of the most talented rosters in the state. Williams was quite simply one of the best pure point guards that I saw. He has an uncanny ability to advance the ball, direct an offense and get the ball to his scorers.

Williams has had a breakout season of sorts. I mean we all knew he was talented, but he’s taken his floor leadership and passing to a whole new level. College coaches that want an elite passer should probably tune in.

Williams was a headline story this season. He proved to be one of the best pure passers and distributors in the state of Michigan. Williams showed that he can score when needed or when he had a good look at the rim. But it was his ability to see the floor, read the defensive action and deliver the ball on target to his athletic teammates that really stood out. Williams could be a big time steal at the next level.

Williams didn’t just make a statement. He put himself in the record books of a storied basketball program. He finished a prime time matchup with Ferndale with an eye-popping 13 assists. Williams saw the floor so well and recognized when and where the ball needed to be. He dished it off both in half court sets as well as in transition. Williams instantly put a lot of eyes and attention on his game.

One part of Williams game that I really liked was his playmaking abilities, especially in fastbreak situations. He does a great job of keeping his head up and making the right plays; he has great awareness which gives him an advantage as a ball-handler. He’s very crafty on his dribble drives and does well navigating through the big-men once he finds himself in the paint. Williams can score from the perimeter as well. Defensively, Williams is very active. His hands and feet are always moving as he looks to grab steals and run in transition.
