Will Armishaw | Prep Hoops Scout
Mabilon, a forward out of the Canterbury School in Connecticut, checks in at #11 among the centers and #85 overall. Mabilon helped lead Canterbury to an appearance in the NEPSAC B Large championship game. He has good positional size, plus length, and impressed this winter with his willingness to play physically in the paint. He’s developed into a strong defender, capable of shutting things down around the rim and keeping the ball in front of him on the perimeter, while also showing the ability to initiate the break with strong outlet passes. As a scorer, he’s really strong as a cutter, can turn over either shoulder on the block, and does a nice job of making shots in the mid-range. Mabilon has yet to announce his future plans.

Mabilon is a super intriguing prospect who puts his game together more and more every time I watch him. Against St. Mark’s, he started off the game with a really nice feed to a backdoor cutter that showcased his ability to see the floor and make passes over smaller defenders. The 6-foot-8 forward also made multiple nice post moves and showed off some nice footwork for his size. He has great skill, and as he continues to get more comfortable and stronger in his body, things are going to really start to come together for him.

Mabilon, out of the Canterbury School in Connecticut, checks in at #10 among the centers and #82 overall. Mabilon is doing more in the paint than we’ve seen in the past; using his size to his advantage to set solid screens, crash the offensive glass, and make an impact as a scorer around the rim. He plays with patience as a back to the basket scorer, has the ability to make decisions as a passer from the top of the key, and is playing through contact with more regularity than ever before. He’d be a high level recruit for the academic D3s, but could pop onto the scholarship level with his combination of size and skill.
