Matthews was an absolute wrecking ball on the defensive end, showcasing relentless energy, effort, grit, and tenacity. His impeccable timing on chase-down blocks allowed him to come out of nowhere, swatting layup attempts off the glass multiple times throughout the game. Offensively, Matthews’ hang-time and body control stood out as he maneuvered through defenders mid-air with ease. His ability to adjust his body or double-pump in traffic allowed him to finish from difficult angles, making him a constant threat in the paint.

DJ was one of the best slashers in attendance at the Rucker on Wood this Sunday. He constantly put pressure on pushing the ball to the basket and would finish over the top of his defenders, whether he was fouled or not. Damond also can control the tempo of the game really well and can speed up or slow down to the pace that benefits his team. I am very big on Damond’s hustle ability as well and his willingness to put his body on the line for loose balls and offensive boards.

Damond is the type of player who doesn’t care how big the opponent is, he will attack you head on. He can defend with the best of guards and his athleticism at the basket cannot be denied. He is a sound playmaker who has good discipline with the basketball in his hands, controlling the offense and setting the pace to make sure his team comes out on top.
