Sanu, a guard out of Portsmouth High School in New Hampshire, makes his first appearance in the rankings at #23 overall. The #5 ranked point guard, Sanu shined on the travel circuit this summer for the Mass Rivals, asserting himself as one of the top scorers in the 3SSB. He’s a creative ball-handler, scores it in a variety of ways in the paint, and does a nice job of knocking down tough jumpers in the mid-range. He can operate on or off the ball, giving him even more versatility on the offensive end of the floor. Defensively, he guards both back-court spots and does a nice job of creating steals and deflections with his quickness. He should be one of the top players in the NHIAA this winter.

I knew a bit about before Sanu the live periods, but the rising sophomore guard impressed me enough to jump squarely onto my radar. The 6-foot-1 rising junior has a rare understanding of how to effectively play off the ball. He drives closeouts decisively and effectively, and he never tries to do anything outside of himself. But he might be the best shooter on Rivals’ 16u squad and is a major threat whenever you give him an inch. The Portsmouth native can play on the ball, too, so he has versatility on that end. Defensively, he fights extremely hard and has active hands. Sanu is a polished player for his age and also still has a year to reclassify.

Sanu, a rising junior at Portsmouth High School in New Hampshire, averaged 11.2 points per game last winter – good for third on his high school team. This spring, with the Mass Rivals, he’s proven to be one of the top scorers on the 3SSB circuit, scoring it from all three levels and showing a good amount of shot creation ability with the ball in his hands. The 6’1″ guard has a quick first step, does a nice job of moving without the basketball, and plays angles well off the bounce. Where he really shines is with his ability to finish in a variety of ways around the rim, particularly over size. Defensively, he has the ability to guard either position in the back-court and can rack up steals in a hurry. He’s established himself as someone who’s on the scholarship track going forward.
