About Cooper

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I love the catch and shoot 3. I also love seeing the floor and breaking down the defense in PnR. If coaches need me to I can run the show and be a point guard. I am really a hard nosed defender on the ball.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is to always work harder than the opponent on defense.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in Beta club that you need to have a 3.5 GPA to be in the club.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed teamwork and leadership because as a point guard I need to be a leader on and off the court so the guys can build trust in the guy running the show.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have faced many challenges in life and in basketball. My sister was diagnosed with cancer during the middle of basketball season. The other challenge I had was running the show as a freshman in high school and getting the chemistry up with the team.

What type of college are you looking for?

To be honest I am looking for any college because I am looking to ge to the next level no matter what. I would love to start off small because I am from a small town and the small community I love.

Hailing from Loogootee High School in southern Indiana, VanHoy showed why he could be in line for an expanded role with the Lions this season. Young floor general that plays with a high IQ and takes advantage of his offensive opportunities. Knockdown shooter from the perimeter. He has a quick trigger and the ability to shoot it from deep range. Crafty ball handling helps him get in the lane where he does a good job facilitating and not forcing the issue. Defensively he is active with his hands and does a really good job communicating. Off the ball defensively he always seems to be in the right spot to slide over and help or take a charge.

Cooper is a sharp shooting guard with a quick release and doesn’t need much room to get it off. Crafty ball handler that can get in the lane and find open teammates. Pesky defender that pressures the ball and creates turnovers with active hands. Plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor.
