Pacheco, a guard out of the Pomfret School in Connecticut, came off the board when he announced that he’ll attend the University of Southern Maine. The 6’1″ guard plays with a lot of wiggle off the bounce and shows a good feel for the game out of dribble hand-offs and ball screens. He’s ultra creative as a finisher around the rim, does a good job of changing his speeds and directions off the bounce, and has improved recently with the consistency of his perimeter jumper. He can guard either spot in the back-court and uses his length and quickness to his advantage as a disruptive defender in passing lanes. This is a nice early recruiting win for Southern Maine and Pacheco has the chance to make an immediate impact as a microwave scorer in the Little East.

I’m always impressed by Pacheco’s motor and toughness. The 6-foot guard won’t wow you with his physicality or athleticism, but he plays extremely hard and always seems to be around the ball making plays. He scoops up tons of offensive rebounds, he makes plays in the passing lanes and with his hands on the ball defensively, and he’s always looking to run in transition and create space for his teammates. Pacheco might not be the first name you think of after watching Pomfret play this season, but he’ll always have been a guy who’s impact goes beyond the stat sheet and who his teammates love playing with. D3 player who will make his coaches very happy.
