Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Farrell was excellent for St. Mark’s, especially early in the game. He hit a bunch of key threes to get their offense off to a solid start, and then he made some really high-flying layups in transition—I think he’s a lot more athletic in the open floor than people realize. Farrell also excelled as a rebounder, especially for his size, and he made smart plays for his teammates when they made sense. He’ll also be back for another year at St. Mark’s and should be even more comfortable next season.

+67 (#140 to #73)
Farrell, a guard out of the St. Mark’s School in Massachusetts, rose 67 spots in this update and now sits at #73 overall. Farrell has impressed so far this winter with his ability to direct an offense and tenacity on the defensive end of the floor. Few floor generals show more two-way effort than he does, as he’s often the first to the floor for loose balls or leads his team in charges taken. He has great floor vision as a passer, the ability to get by the initial defender off the bounce, and is a crafty finisher around the rim.

Farrell has the ability to play both on and off the ball and is a total knockdown shooter when he needs to be. The 6-foot-1 guard has a beautiful release and can miss 10 in a row while still thinking he’ll make the next one (and he probably will). With the rock, he has tons of speed and quickness and is a lot bouncier than you’d think. Defensively, Ferrell more than holds his own and is pretty feisty. Top D3 programs should be all over the junior guard, especially if he continues to grow and develop physically.

Farrell, a guard out of St. Mark’s School, impressed with his two-way effort and ability to run the show on the offensive end of the floor. He played as hard as any guard we saw in the gym on Saturday, hitting the floor for loose balls, fighting through screens defensively, and making pushing the pace in transition as a ball-handler. He plays bigger than his frame, does a nice job of getting into the paint off the bounce, and is capable of making shots off the bounce or in catch and shoot situations. Overall, it’s his ability to impact winning that stands out most.

Farrell is an exciting point guard who you cannot leave open for a split second, because he’ll make you pay with his accurate three-point shot. The 6-foot-1 junior runs the show for St. Marks and makes excellent passes out of the pick and roll and once he punctures the paint, but he also has the athleticism to take over when he needs to. Farrell should be highly sought after by the highest level D3 programs, especially after what he showed he can do offensively against St. Luke’s on Saturday.
