Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I pride myself as a high energy player and am working very hard to be a "complete" player. I shoot the ball well from 3, but also have been attacking the rim and working on my mid-range game. I think I am a high IQ player and try to make the right pass or play each possession. I love on-ball defense and rebounding. I can be that player who makes a difference on both ends of the floor.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I love competing against high level competition, so I can see where I stack up. I am not afraid of anyone. I can be hard on myself at times, but I am working on that. I expect to make every shot and that is not realistic. However, that mentality makes me work every day on my game. I am a good teammate and I want everyone to feel success as we play.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I work with our Varsity coach during his summer camps with youth basketball and really enjoy it. I also referee youth games.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Playing Varsity basketball as a sophomore made me realize how you have to be ready to go all the time. My older brother was a senior in 23-24, so I got to play and learn from him, as he was a team captain. I am hoping I can be a captain as well before I am done with high school. I am building my leadership skills, as my coach as spoken to me about being a leader this year as a Junior.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Last year I jumped from the Freshman team to Varsity and started almost every game. While that was very exciting and made me feel really good, it took me about 5 or 6 games to mentally catch up. I had to learn how important the term "next play" means and also had to accept my role as the #2 scorer and the pressure that came with that. It was a great learning experience.
What type of college are you looking for?
I do want the college I attend to have a good academic reputation. I am hoping I could get some interest from D2 programs, especially in the PSAC, which are near my home. If not, D3 would also be a great challenge. Size-wise, 5,000 or so would be good. Not too big and not too small. But, I am open to talking to multiple schools of all sizes.
