I got to see Powell at the All Ohio Hoops Showcase to start the OHSAA season just a few weeks ago. It was my first chance to see him play and I was impressed by his strong frame and scoring ability. Coming to Ohio from the New England area, Powell had a strong reputation as a nationally ranked on 247 and rivals and finds himself in our top 10 to begin. I’ve only gotten one in person evaluation so expect Powell’s ranking to fluctuate as I continue to watch him develop and add more concrete opinions about his game.

A huge name buzzing around Ohio recently, Powell is a new face after moving in from the new england area and people are very interested to see if his game lives up to the hype he has with offers and national recruiting rankings. His debut performance was strong as Powell had a monster scoring game to lead Buchtel to a tight win over Newark. A strong wing guard who is an elite athlete, Powell doesn’t get pushed off his spots and can finish at the rim through contact. He also had some tough shots including a double crossover into a rainbow pull-up 3-pointer. I’ll be curious to continue to see how Powell develops but he is a no brainer Division I target and will debut high in our 2026 rankings when they get updated later this month.

The next prospect blew up on the AAU scene last season and was recently named MVP of the Westminster boys program. Powell is an upstate native who can score from all three levels, guard multiple positions, help win you games and still has plenty of room to develop. He is rising up the 2026 board fast, he is slowly eliminating all of his flaws and seems to have a completely different view of the game now. We will continue to buy stock in this young playmaker an it wouldn’t surprise us if he reached five star status one of these days.
