, and the two of them combine for 11.8 assists per game. Both feed off of each other, usually consisting of them attacking closeouts and getting downhill, then becoming able to find the other open on the weak side or looking to spot up for shots or drives. The two of them could be a package deal somewhere, but are definite college players that should get an opportunity at the next level.

Brings plenty of the traits that you love to see from a Point Guard and his performance on Friday night proved it once again. He displayed the ability to get his team into their sets and really impressed us with his passing skills. Scoring the ball is not an issue for him but he truly is a gifted passer that understands how to set his teammates up for easy buckets.

Matheka was a very nice guard for EC Phenomz today, as he showed off his two-way versatility. On offense he was a good shooter, taking the open shot and playing within himself. This was also evident on his drives, where he consistently got to two feet and made the right read, whether it was getting to the rim or passing it out. Defensively he was a pest, and it was not a fun day to be his matchup. He was up in ballhandler’s jerseys and in the passing lanes when his man didn’t have the ball. His biggest knock is his size, but I think he can play the lead guard spot at the next level which negates some of those concerns.

was another face to keep eyes on in the East Carteret High backcourt this season as he moves further into the Top 100 at the 83rd spot in the latest 2024 rankings update. He’s another confident guard that can knock down shots on the perimeter at volume and is equally impressive finishing in traffic. He averaged 21.9 ppg,4.1 rpg, 3.9 apg and 2.7 spg at the opposite guard role for the Mariners in 2022-23. DII and DIII programs would be wise to track him. As he improves on his strength/frame, look for his stock to grow in the 2024 class. He’ll run with
Eastern Carolina Phenomz
this grassroots season.
