was one of leading scorers in the state this year, averaging 26.2 PPG in his 15 regular season games. He’s fairly crafty and has some wiggle, which allows to maneuver around defenders in the paint. He’s also good at getting to the line, and his season high was 18 attempts (making 14 of them). He is also the type of player who crashes and the glass, and he used his height (6’5) and he had 4 games where he came down with 10 or more boards. Defensively he applies good ball pressure and can swipe the ball away if his opponents not careful. (4 games with 7 or more steals)

One of the more talented transfers to come into the state of Indiana this off-season, Whitehead moved across the river from Christian Academy of Louisville to defending Class 4A State Champion Jeffersonville High School. The 6’4″ wing was one of the most fluid perimeter athletes at “The Expo.” Whitehead consistently made impressive moves off of the bounce, showed the ability to score it from multiple levels, and used his length to be disruptive defensively.

Whitehead was named a top performer at “The Expo.” Here is what we had to say in our earlier write-up.

Admittedly, we are leaning heavily on the evaluations from trusted sources down on, and across, the river on this one. We have seen very little of Whitehead, but we know that he will be a very impactful transfer at Jeffersonville High School. A standout at Eastern High School prior to the transfer, Whitehead is a smooth, skilled wing with a long of athletic gifts. We look forward to seeing more of his this upcoming season in Indiana.

Whitehead’s season ended abruptly when he transferred back to Ballard after going to Eastern for the first part of the season. Cash is a solid volume scorer with high upside and equally high basketball IQ. He can excel as a playmaker and scorer at 6’4 and should impress some folks this AAU season.

Cash makes a big move from 45th overall to 22nd. Whitehead needs to continue getting comfortable as a primary scoring option as sometimes he settles for bad shots like a player who is used to a smaller role. As he settles into being “the man” at Eastern, he’s only going to get better and I think Whitehead has some advanced playmaking skills that he hasn’t shown yet. He’s a bit of a late bloomer but the potential is certainly there.

Eastern had a tough outing against Green County but Whitehead was an easy selection for an individual standout on the Eastern side. A wing guard who can really score at the rim, Whitehead did a nice job of getting downhill and being patient once he got to the paint. He had an and-1 finish against a sliding defender trying to take a charge, had multiple two foot finishes and also leaked out in transition for a few breakaway layups. Whitehead was inconsistent from 3-point range but made a couple perimeter shots to remain a threat from downtown. If Whitehead can improve his percentages from downtown, he’ll find it even easier to score when he attacks off the dribble.

Cash was a good player for Ballard last season but transferred to Eastern this summer and is likely to have a lot more opportunities to make an impact as a Junior. Whitehead should be one of the main options for Eastern and could see a huge difference in his shooting and scoring numbers this season with his bigger role. It doesn’t hurt to have his dad sitting on the bench with the Eagles either. A former Louisville Cardinal, Whitehead’s dad can make a big impact for the entire Eastern roster with his mentorship as well as his on court skill work and development. Cash is a sleeper for the biggest stock booster of the upcoming season if all goes to plan for him.

Likely the biggest single riser of anyone in this update, Cash went up from 155th to 48th and could continue moving up with a big season at Eastern after transferring from Ballard this season. Whitehead is a scoring guard who is comfortable spotting up from three or putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim. Improving as a playmaker, Cash recently added his first scholarship offers.
