Despite the loss against St. Paul Johnson, Cameron had a monster game. The Irondale big man stretched the floor for a handful of threes, and was dominant as a shot blocker. Defensively he sent shot after shot right back to the sender, and also did a nice job of moving his feet out on the perimeter against smaller players. On the offensive end he proved a threat to score with his back to the basket or out of the pick & pop. Really impressed with his ability to catch and shoot off the move at 6’8-6’9.

Cameron showed a side to his game that I hadn’t previously seen before. From watching him with Minnesota Fury last spring/summer, I knew he was a physical low-post presence who could protect the rim and control the glass for his team. Against East Ridge he still did that, but showed shooting touch out on the perimeter that I didn’t know he had. Cameron knocked down three triples, proving to be a pick & pop threat out on the perimeter. At 6’9 he was able to quickly get his feet set off the move to catch and shoot before his defender could recover. He finished with 21 points on the night.

Standing at 6’8 with a solid build, Cameron is tough to move off the block. But it was his effort and mobility that really impressed me. He could hedge hard out on the perimeter, and quickly recover to get back and protect the rim. Had multiple blocks against ND Phenom showcasing great timing and quickness to get off the floor and contest. Scoring wise he was at his best sprinting to the rim in transition, where he had the coordination to catch and finish on the move even in the presence of a defender. The type of big man who doesn’t need to get touches in the half-court to contribute.
