Butler scored a career-high 16 points as New Palestine moved to 3-0 in Hoosier Heritage Conference play with a 66-53 win over Delta on Friday night. The 6’3″ wing is a high percentage catch-and-shoot threat with a pop of athleticism when attacking closeouts as well.

We had the opportunity to see Butler shine a handful of times over the course of the summer. He is a very good jump shooter both from beyond the arc and in the midrange. The 6’3″ guard should step into a primary role in the backcourt as a junior for New Palestine High School. Look for the Dragons to surprise some people this season as they reloaded their backcourt pretty well.

We had the chance to see Butler a handful of times over the summer and it was his shooting ability that generally caught our attention. That was certainly true once again at “The Expo” as he was hot during early shooting drills and made shots during live action as well. Look for Butler, a talented 6’3″ guard, to make an impact as a junior in New Palestine’s backcourt after transferring in from Triton Central.

We had the opportunity to see Butler a handful of times over the course of the summer with Indiana Basketball Club and he should help bolster a New Palestine High School lineup that was hit hard by graduation. The Triton Central High School transfer averaged 7.5 points per game last season as a sophomore. He appears to be poised for what could be a breakout junior season for the Dragons this winter.
