Mims remains a bit under the radar despite his top-50 ranking as he brings a valuable blend of size, length and budding athleticism that allows him to make and impact at both ends. Following their run in the state tournament last season, Southern returns the bulk of their core production in Mims, Daniel Lewis Daniel Lewis 6'1" | PG Southern | 2027 State MD , Myles Money Myles Money 6'3" | PG Southern | 2028 State MD and Landon Kidd Landon Kidd 6'1" | SG/SF Southern | 2027 State MD among others as they look to finish this job this winter and get into the title game. Mims’ presence in the paint and controlling the glass will be a key ingredient to their success.

Previous Ranking: 68

-Just a workhorse on the low block, Mims manned the paint for a Southern team that won their region and advanced to the state semifinals. Loved his motor at both ends of the floor as a prospect that sprints the floor hard to fill the lane for putback or alley oop finish opportunities in transition. Mims sets great screens, can knock down pick n pop jumpers from the elbows, and covered a ton of ground for the Mustangs at the defensive end of the floor. Big summer on the way for the rising senior!

Mims separated himself with his willingness to do the small things in order to gain his team an advantage. Setting good screens, being a consistent presence on the glass and finishing inside the paint when the opportunity presented itself were all boxes that he checked throughout his 5-on-5 showing.

-Really enjoyed his motor, energy, and enthusiasm throughout a nice win over Suitland. Mims ran the floor hard, did a great job of staying around the basket for boards/finishing opportunities without getting in the way of his guards on their drives to the rim, blocked shots, and finished with two hands with authority throughout the evening. He’s got a pretty strong frame for an undersized big, using his raw power to overwhelm opponents on the glass and wall up to force bigs out of the paint to make them take more difficult shots over the top. Should be a force for Southern this season in the county.
