might be the most overlooked two-guard in the state. The unsigned senior shows excellent size at 6’5”, a college-ready frame, and the athleticism and power to attack the lane at will. His ability to finish with authority, often throwing down dunks through traffic, showcased his dominance. Another one of Melvin’s most translatable traits proved to be his mid-range game where he consistently drilled contested pull-up and turnaround jumpers, proving his versatility and value as a scorer.

Melvin put on a scoring clinic on Saturday. He’s a physical bully ball guard. Too strong at the rim, while also thriving in the mid-range. Great footwork and ball fakes to gain the inch of space for him to rise up and shoot over outstretched defenders him. Good athleticism to go along with his powerful build, simply a problem for the opposition. Type of guard who thrives in Iso situations as a walking bucket.

continues to prove that he’s one of the best in the state at getting to his spots, whether it’s a pull-up jumpshot in the mid-range or a finish at the basket. He makes great use of his body to create space and draw fouls, utilizing phenomenal strength, physicality, and body control in the lane. Melvin couldn’t have made driving to the basket look any easier. He went around defenders like they were cones and exploded off his feet with ease.

His skill set, pace and patience really showed compared to the competition. He used fakes to manipulate the defense and get them out of position. He’s a very high IQ player when it comes to exploiting mismatches. I watched him post up a smaller pg then spilt the double when it came with a drop step. First position of the game he got a defender up off his feet on the baseline after shot faking after a stepback, then he used a step through and hit a mid range jumper.

has risen to a top 25 ranking after a spectacular breakout summer, garnering multiple scholarship offers as he enters his junior season. Melvin stands out as a fundamentally sound scorer, capable of creating opportunities even in challenging situations. His shot selection is impressive, and he excels at getting to his preferred spots on the court. What truly distinguishes Melvin is his ability to initiate plays, absorb contact, and finish through traffic, making this one of his most transferable skills. Furthermore, his off-the-ball expertise is highly efficient, with excellent spacing, court awareness, and chemistry with his teammates.
