One of the few committed prospects in Ohio’s 2025 class, Buchanan wanted to stay close to home and committed to Rio Grande back in March. A strong guard who wants to use his physicality when driving to the paint, Buchanan had a strong season next to Chase Allen Chase Allen 6'1" | CG Proctorville Fairland | 2024 State OH in the back-court for Fairland. With Allen graduated, it’ll be on Buchanan’s shoulders to keep the Dragons near the top of the OVC. Buchanan plays at his own pace and loves the 8-12 foot pull-up jumpers to avoid rim contests from bigs. That is a tough shot to make but one that if you have the confidence to make, can be a great way for undersized guards to score while attacking downhill. Southeast Ohio usually has a couple sleepers every year and Buchanan is a name to know from the area in the 2025 class.

Buchanan looked solid for the Dragons in their win over Sheridan. The sophomore guard has great shooting mechanics and moved the ball well in the halfcourt. Made some good reads and involved teammates moving the ball. Made some good moves off the dribble to get good penetration and layups on a fatigued Sheridan defense down the stretch. Buchanan has a lot of upside and could be a fun prospect to watch as he grows.
