About Brodie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I prefer to attack the basket and thrive in beating my defender downhill to score. I also like to shoot from beyond the arc and can create my own space to get a solid look. On the defensive end, our team primarily sets up in a two-three zone where I play on the top defending the right side of the court, protecting the arc and middle, but I will go down to the block and fight for a rebound.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'd say I'm very competitive, hating to lose more than enjoying to win, which fuels my aggressiveness. I don't shy away from contact and want the ball in my hands during intense moments. As a point guard, I enjoy creating and finding ways for not only myself, but also for my teammates to score and love the team aspect of the sport. This mentality helped me earn a captain position on our team.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Currently I serve as president for our athletic club and have been vice-president of my class for all three years. I am involved in our chapter's National Honors Society, was a member of FFA, and participated in Forensics.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Also the starting quarterback for our football team since my freshman year, playing that position has helped enhance my vocal leadership skills on the hardwood by understanding the best way to communicate plays and sets with my teammates. Outside of school, I enjoy giving back to my community by reading at church, setting up and cleaning at community events, ushering school plays, etc.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Fortunately, I have been blessed to not have encountered any serious challenges in my life so far. I have had times where my toughness was tested though. My freshman year I played mostly the entire basketball season recovering from a spell with pneumonia. Besides some aches and pains I've lived a relatively easy life.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am open to playing at any and all levels as long as the school is the best fit for me. I'd like to go to a school who likes to play fast paced and thrives in transition where the relationship between teammates and coaches is close-knit, almost like a second family.
