Brian Haywood Brian Haywood 6'0" | PG/SG Barbara Bush Middle School | 2029 TX , who is in the class of 2029, was a versatile playmaker throughout the weekend. He makes an impact in many stat categories, making himself someone who can provide production at a high level. Often, he sets his teammates up for open opportunities on all three levels. Defensively he locks down the opposition guards very well. He’s capable of making clutch plays having himself a game winner against Team Oklahoma NXTPRO. Throughout the Grind Region Finals, he averaged 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists a game.

Brian is a talented, smart combo guard that’s not only playing with athletes two to three years older than himself, but excelling while doing so. I was blown away by his elite footwork, impressive poise, and top-notch decision-making. He has burst off the dribble that you don’t expect and the ability to take it coast to coast if needed. He’s effective leading the break and incredibly active on the glass on both ends. He’s got sneaky, quick hands that can rack up steals and he’s an absolute knockdown shooter. His solid frame gives him the ability to be a force in the paint and his IQ and awareness are literally off the charts for his age. I expect Haywood to grab a ton of attention heading into high school and I’m not shocked that he’s competing and holding his own with older athletes after the way I saw him play.
