About Braylan

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Long guard with active hands and the ability to disrupt defensively. Strong 3 pt shooter but quick, and able to get to the basket and finish. Ability to finish creatively with good body control. Working on mastering the mid-range so I can be a true 3-level scorer. Ability to see the floor well and find my teammates for the best shot. I love Cade Cunningham's style and pace- I try to emulate that.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have been competing since I can remember and have been put in high stress/pressure moments since I was 8. This has given me the ability to learn to be level, I don't get too high or too low. I don't talk much; I don't post much on socials and I don't love attention. I just like to work in silence and let that speak as much as possible.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am part of the Superintendent Advisory Committee at my high school. This is a committee that comes together to brainstorm ideas to improve the district as well as give feedback to leadership at the district. I also play baseball and football.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

By nature, I am not a super vocal person, but I try to lead in different ways- through my commitment and through my play. My family puts a heavy focus on being service driven, and being "helpers." I hope to carry that with me. I have been playing team sports since I was 3- at high levels since I was 8... I thrive in team environments and love working and playing alongside my teammates.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

When I was 12, I experienced something that I believe shaped me. I was on a team where my teammates were treating me like a "slave." They fake whipped me, called me the N-word etc. I endured that season, and waited to tell my family until it was over. Growing up in a primarily white town, this isn't the only experience I've had... but it was the worst. I have learned resilience through it all.

What type of college are you looking for?

My goal is to attend a college that is the best fit for me academically and athletically. I am still young so I am not totally sure what path I want to take academically, I believe this will be solidified as I gain experience in my high school journey.
