One of the top Division VI players in the state, Holt should be a first team all-Ohio nomination when the all-state teams are announced. Controlling the pace of the game when the ball is in his hands, Holt does an excellent job of pushing the tempo when necessary while also slowing the game down when beneficial for his team. Knocking down multiple open 3-pointers against the Seneca East zone defense, Holt is a point guard you have to track off the ball as well. Colonel Crawford is rolling right now, playing arguably their best basketball of the season.

A player who thrives in this gym, the first time I saw Holt play a high school game was at this event two years ago with Wooster Triway. Holt has elite change of pace as he can go from 0-60-0 incredibly quickly. With a bit of a herky jerky style to his drives, Holt draws a lot of free throws because the defense struggles to anticipate his next move. Playing with great chemistry with his senior big, Holt hit multiple 3’s off DHO actions to free him up. Despite the loss, Colonel Crawford is still a state title contender in Division VI this season.

Holt is the best player for Crawford, and this is seen by how the opposing team treats him. He was doubled and face-guarded the entire game. Instead of trying to force he became a playmaker. Whenever he was able to get past his defender, he made the right read. He is a high-IQ player. He showed a three-level scorer and the ability to do it without much dribbling. He came off of screens with footwork and the ability to knock down shots. He has a ton of confidence and is so smooth. He has a lot of tools to score.

On a team with a 2026 and 2027 core, Holt has stepped in to Colonel Crawford and immediately established himself as a leader and the engine of their offense. Everything runs through Holt in the half-court as he’s the guy creating shots off the dribble for himself and drawing help-side defense so his teammates can get an open look. Against a swarming Maumee Valley Country Day defense Holt had five assists but also had a handful of hockey assists as well. The eight turnovers were concerning but with how much Holt had the ball in his hands, I could live with a few of his giveaways. With sudden change of pace and direction, Holt is tough to keep in front and had some tough shots off the bounce. Holt also had 10 defensive rebounds, ending possessions with a stop and went to the foul line for 16 free throws, two stats that flat out win you games in March.

I caught Holt at the Battle at the Berkey with Triway and he caught fire with 37 points in the first three quarters alone. Everything was working for Holt off the bounce as he used his body to shield himself from defenders and was automatic from 3-point range. I was impressed with Holt’s scoring ability and change of pace off the dribble. Expect Holt to become a household name despite being another small-town prospect, he should put up huge numbers as a Junior next winter.

The leading scorer of the first day of the event, Holt was getting BUSY in the first three quarters. Playing at his own pace and knocking down a high percentage of his off the bounce shots, Holt was getting where he wanted to and was scoring the ball efficiently. In the third quarter it felt like everything Holt threw up at the rim went in as he hit some deep off the bounce 3-pointers and had a couple floaters that found the bottom of the net. Finishing with 37 points and the win, Holt is a name to watch in northeast Ohio’s 2026 class.
