Welch scored 27 of his teams 34 points against Yorkville.  He is a smaller lead guard who has a great feel for the game with excellent basketball instincts.  His shot was on fire in this game as he poured in four triples along with multiple stop and pop shots from 15 feet.  Float game was on point and he showcased creativity on his drives with good body control.

A skilled guard with IQ in multiple phases. Welch runs the Maroons offense without much of any hiccup. Has a deep bag to go off the dribble. Maybe labeled as undersized but his quickness and ability to get to spots while creating separation pays off. In midafternoon game on Sunday he drilled a tough pull-up three off the bounce, knocked down a fadeaway jumper from 15 feet, and consistently created advantages while splitting gaps off the dribble. Passing wise he delivered assists to cutters or drawing help when getting to cup and making proper kick out reads. The combination of pace and creation makes him difficult to cover in the ½ court and open floor setting. Will continue to garner more traction on the scouting trail.

Caught team’s game 2 of the day. Creative primary ball handler for the Maroons that showcased a plethora of skill sets. Comfortable handling it against full court or ½ court zone traps making smart reads to make others better around him. A 2 way player that uses quickness, tenacity, and high iq. Shares the sugar extremely well but if there is any space beyond the arc he was letting it fly today for good reason. Hit 3 treys 4 feet plus beyond the arc. Gets nifty with the rock in his hands to create space or thread the needle between defenders. Utilizes ball screens with discipline and smart decisions. In a game where team was down 3 after the first quarter and up 4 at half, he adjusted accordingly to make the final near a 30 point spread. Scoring wise hit a total of 5 3’s in rhythm off the catch or dribble and had him down for 25 points overall.

Welch impressed with his scoring pop for his Mid-Pro team. He constantly found ways to put points up on the board. He is a threat from deep and if his feet are set from three there’s a high chance he is converting. He found teammates for scoring chances and didn’t let the ball stick to his hands. Welch is one step ahead and is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. He does a good job getting to different spots in the half-court downhill. Excited to see Welch’s progress as a prospect.
