About Benjamin

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay style is all about toughness. I play hard to get offensive and defensive rebounds. I excel at catch-and-shoot threes, transition layups, and mid-range jump shots. The majority of my scoring takes place in transition and off the dribble. Teams benefit from my distributing the ball well, recognizing my teammate's strengths, and capitalizing on them.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

It is clear when I play that I am a joyful person. I love basketball, and I try to share my joy with every opportunity I have in my basketball play and all areas of my life. I would describe my mentality as determined toughness. I give my all to everything I do, try to improve daily, and work to see joy even in hard times.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

At school I am involved in the Beta Club and Key Club. Church is a big part of my life. There I serve as an alter server, am involved in my youth group, and serve as a peer minister. In my community I serve with Backpack Buddies and Habitat for Humanity. I also volunteered once a week at Piedmont Fayette Hospital over the summer.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I serve my community through a variety of avenues, such as volunteering with Backpack Buddies, volunteering at Pidemont Fayette Hospital, working with Bridging the Gap, and Habitat for Humanity. I have grown as a leader through my AAU team, where my teammates trust me for my game knowledge, ability to keep a level head and strong communication skills.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One challenge I faced was being cut from my middle school basketball team in 7th grade. When I was cut, it was tough, but this challenge pushed me to focus my strong work ethic and commit to basketball. This challenge motivated me to take my training to the next level and become the player I am today.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a medium-sized college with a robust academic program and many extracurriculars that will prepare me for a life and career beyond college.
