Another prospect on this team who will suit up for Oakdale this season, Brooks brings nice size as an off-ball guard with long-range shooting capabilities. Brooks spent his freshman season at St. John’s Catholic Prep, but will transition to the Frederick County program who has consistent success within the public school landscape. The rising sophomore can fill it up from the corners in particular and the 3v3 portion of the event was proof, but in the 5v5 he had to find the smaller ways to impact the game and I thought he did that with impact. He filled the lanes in transition, stayed true to his strengths and used his size to disrupt jumpers on closeouts as a defender.

Benjamin Brooks Benjamin Brooks 6'3" | SG/CG Oakdale | 2029 State MD is a 6-foot-1 combo guard prospect in the Class of 2029. Given his 3pt shooting and overall understanding of how to operate without the ball, he excelled within his role. Benjamin is a capable creator, passer, and penetrating threat, but is arguably at his best in shooting situations on/off the ball. Solid defender and reliable rebounder using his length. Doesn’t overdribble or force the action.  Know how to keep the game simple. Next in his development process, is working on getting stronger, which will happen naturally as he matures into his body. Which will also make him a better finisher through contact. Brooks has the potential to be an main piece to Coach Devin Williams program.

Benjamin was solid all-around offensively during the whole day of scrimmage play. He executed on his decisions when attacking the defense. Benjamin shot the ball with extreme confidence and knocked down 3pt shots at a high rate. Benjamin knew when to utilize his size at the right times and capitalized on his opportunities. Very sound and technical guard that got the job done each game. Benjamin played very hard on both ends of the floor to make up for any mistake he may have made.
