About Benett
Expert Analysis

Edwards was a bright spot for the Cardinals in the Silver Bracket Championship Game loss. He has been a dependable option for Landrum throughout his career and now will have the pressure of being the #1 in his Senior season. Benett is a solid all-around Guard with a strong frame who can back down smaller matchups, get to his spots off the dribble, rebound consistently, and good defensive properties. Edwards was much more effective in the second half as his consistent probing and driving started to wear down his matchups. He finished with 13 Points and 10 Rebounds in the loss.

The boys portion of the schedule at the first day of the Battle at the Border ended with a pair of teams that had emphatic victories over their opponents. The Cardinals dominated against Spartanburg Christian and Edwards was one main element of that dominant performance as he led the team with 15 points. Edwards stands at over six feet and possesses a great deal of hops to compliment his height and his length. He has plenty of ability to play above the rim along with attacking the basket and drawing contact to find his way to the free throw line.

. I got to see Edwards play frequently this Summer, whether it was during the Grassroots Season playing up with Next Level Elite 2024 or during the Scholastic Period with Landrum High School, but he never disappointed. Benett is a good all-around player, but what stands out is his desire to stay involved in the offense without the ball in his hands. He is a very good cutter and is a great shooter off the catch.

Edwards was impressive at the Wofford Camp as well, doing a little bit of everything on the offensive end and finishing with 8 points against Greer. Following a breakout Sophomore Year in which he was Top 10 in the State in Assists with 109, he had an impressive summer with Next Level Elite, often playing up with the 2024s with Landrum teammate

The sophomore standout for the Cardinals ensured that Landrum would defend its home court as his 18 points were crucial in his team’s hard-fought victory over Chapman. His ability to put points on the board is complimented by the fact that Edwards is a skilled rebounder. Edwards is listed at 6-foot-2 and has also showcased how proficient of a passer he is. Defensively, he gives opposing teams problems with his ability to come away with steals. He proved in his freshman season that he would be a worthwhile piece to a winning puzzle with the Cardinals and that is ringing true again as a sophomore.

Edwards can stroke the ball from the perimeter for the Cardinals. He’s another viable option from the perimeter with his ability to make shots. Benett will surprise you with his athleticism and the ability to get his shot off quickly. He tends to receive the ball in the pocket and lets it fly when he gets it. Edwards averaged 7.1 ppg last season as a freshman.

Edwards came out firing today from the perimeter. Benett is a shooter and that’s what he does from the outside. He was able to knockdown open shots at a good clip today.
Benett plays up on the North Carolina/South Carolina border in the Upstate for the Cardinals.

Benett is a very deceptive for the Cardinals. Edwards is a shooter for the Cardinals and really does a good job of filling the lane in transition. Edwards will be counted on heavily for Head Coach Lyn Smith.
