He is the engine of the team, WCU goes as Ryba goes. He knows what it means to work hard and put the team first. Avynn is an excellent rebounder and top-notch finisher at the cup. He controls the boards and forces the opposing team to be disciplined at all times around the hoop. Every loose ball is his. Ryba is smart about using size to his advantage. He is a leader and the team follows. Ryba is no stranger to a Double-Double and he has fueled WCU to big wins. He always brings energy, effort, and a high motor to the court.

Ryba plays with great low-post positioning and a full bag of post moves. He’ll beat you with his back to the basket, and in face-up situations, he takes and makes smart shots, scores with both hands, and finishes through contact. Ryba is a good rebounder and cleans up a lot on the offensive glass, giving him easy scores under the rim. I like the vision he has and the ability to pass out of the low-post. Ryba sets good screens and has good hands. He simplifies his scoring efforts, knowing his size and athleticism give him an advantage.

Avynn was one of the hardest workers I saw all weekend, being a game wrecker on the boards. The 6’5” forward was not the biggest nor the most athletic most of the time on the floor, but he was able to generate so many second chance opportunities for his team. This led to some finishes through contact for himself, as well as some open looks on the perimeter for his teammates. Ryba is a player I’d love to have on my team, as he thrives in doing the dirty work inside.
