Anytime Martinez attacked downhill, you felt his presence, initiating contact and dislodging defenders, making him a tough cover in the paint.

Good basketball IQ, processing the game and making timely decisions on the fly, showing strong feel and awareness. Martinez always knew when to shoot, attack, facilitate, or use his footwork, operating within the flow of the offense. Martinez excelled when he let the game come to him offensively, showing an all-around impact contributing as a scorer, playmaker, and connector.

Martinez operated as a scoring combo guard who played effectively within structure. He showed the ability to handle the ball and create offense when needed, while also contributing off the ball. His ability to get into the paint allowed him to put pressure on defenses and open up opportunities for teammates. He stayed under control in his movements, taking available shots rather than forcing action. Defensively, he competed and stayed engaged at the point of attack.

Ashton was the emotional leader for Magic this weekend, and the team goes as he goes. His energy was contagious as he was talking, defending, and leading by example. He was aggressive getting to the basket and wasn’t afraid of the moment. When opponents got hot, he took on the challenge of guarding them and made plays on both ends. He brought toughness and grit that championship teams need. Martinez was a tone-setter, and Magic followed his lead all the way to the trophy. He scores in bunches, and his game translates as a defender that will turn heads this year. Liked what I saw from Ashton. 

Lead guard with good positional size already at 6-foot. Martinez played under control and came through in the biggest moments, knocking down timely shots whenever his team needed a spark. His ability to shift momentum with his shot-making made him a reliable scoring option and a calming floor presence. Whether in transition or off the bounce, he found ways to contribute consistently.

Ashton is a no-nonsense player who enforced his will on opponents in every aspect of the game. Defensively, he’s smart, strong, and disruptive, using his size and instincts to create steals, charges, and deflections. Offensively, Ashton is smooth, always under control, and his brute strength allows him to finish through contact. He also knocked down multiple three-pointers, showing his versatility. His natural chemistry with teammates makes their offensive flow seamless. I’m excited to see how Ashton and his team continue to progress throughout the spring and summer!

Not sure if Ashton had an expresso or coffee but he definitely was awake on active for his 8 am game! Easily one of the most consistent and productive players at the Spurs City Shootout, Ashton left his mark in San Antonio. Ashton had a smooth 17 points Sunday to conclude a phenomenal weekend performance!
