The big man for the Red Elephants had 11 points in a win for the Red Elephants. Vollrath has good touch in the paint and can finish with either hand. He has good strength, rebounds his area and plays with a high motor. Post players are always tough for college coaches to find, so expect his recruitment to rise this summer.
ELCA pushed Gainesville to the brink, falling short 48-41. Who made the biggest shots late? It was Ash Vollrath. After a scoreless first half, the big man stepped up late in the game with a drive, a three-pointer and a slam dunk to ice it. Vollrath has interesting offensive skills. He didn’t play much last year but is in line for key minutes if the Red Elephants don’t add anymore transfers. Ash is a sneaky skilled late bloomer who could be appealing for NAIA and D-III programs if not higher. He had 7 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block in the win.
