About Aquil

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a crafty two-way Combo Guard in the likes of Jrue Holiday. I typically lead my teams in 3-point shooting % (38-40%) as a timely and efficient scorer who doesn't need a lot of shots to be effective. I can guard multiple positions with ease and believe I am one of the BEST ON BALL DEFENDERS IN THE COUNTRY.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a slow grinder who stays the course and trusts the process. I am easy going with a fire within me. I picked those traits up from my dad who went from a D1 basketball walk-on to starter at Howard University (DC) and then earned a doctorate degree and my mom who migrated here as a refugee from Ethiopia as a teen to become a Howard University graduate and Physician Assistant.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Chamber Orchestra (violin) - 6 years (MS and HS) 2019-2025 AP Seminar and Research Certificate - 2024 AP Capstone Diploma Candidate - 2024-25 FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) -2024 - 25 Fellowship of Christian Athletes - 2021-23 Korean Club - 2021 - 22 Computer Science Club - 2024-25 North River Church of Christ Teen Ministry 2021-2025

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed skills that will allow me pursue a career in Cyber Security. I have also taken on leadership roles within my Teen Ministry, HS Orchestra and the Varsity Basketball Team. Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I moved around a lot in Elementary School and Middle School, as my parents pursued opportunities and my father worked as a school administrator around the world (Kuwait and South Korea): Bowie, MD: 2006-08 Plano, TX: 2008-12 Dallas, TX: 2013-2015 McKinney, TX: 2015-2017 Kuwait: 2017-19 South Korea: 2019-21 Alpharetta, GA: 2021-present
