Okoth was one of the day’s biggest standouts, putting together a performance that demanded attention from start to finish. He played with a physical edge defensively, picked up opponents high, disrupted plays and consistently found ways to get his hands on the ball. Offensively he showed a little bit of everything, knocking down a three, attacking closeouts, finishing blow bys and calmly pulling up from the mid range. His decision making stood out as well, as he made the extra pass and kept the offense flowing. Okoth looked comfortable scoring in different ways and competed like one of the best defenders in the gym

Okoth has caught our attention over the past two summers, and each time we see him he continues to impress. He brings an intriguing combination of toughness, physicality and versatility to the floor, competing hard on every possession. Defensively he’s disciplined and dependable, making every possession difficult for opposing players no matter their position with his effort and intensity. Offensively he’s shown flashes of taking over games with confident scoring stretches. We’re eager to see if he can put all of those pieces together and make a major impact against strong competition at the showcase

Okoth was one of my favorite players to watch as he was one of the more impactful defenders of the weekend. He consistently changed possessions with how active he was, and his timing stood out as well. He rotated well, blocked multiple shots, altered attempts, and filled defensive gaps without chasing plays. Offensively, he surprised with coast-to-coast pushes, floaters, and physical finishes inside that helped secure wins for his team. He’s a bit difficult to classify in the best way possible as he’s part glue guy, part interior force, part playmaker. His versatility and toughness stood out immediately, and is a player to follow. I’m sure we see plenty of varsity for him this year as Ponderosa could certainly use him.
