About Alando

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As a point guard, I'm a facilitator first and floor general orchestrating the offense and the flow of the game. I can score on all three levels especially going downhill, but I'm a pass first player to make the right basketball play. I pride myself the most being a great defender on defense.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Focused. Not easily distracted. Always serious about the game and really mean business. Before a game, isolate myself and keep my mind on the duties and assignments of the game.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Beta Club, Honor Society

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have to demonstrate leadership at all time as the team point guard. The basketball is in my possession 80% of the time and I must ensure all players understand their roles and assignments. I constantly remind my teammates we must play together as a team and trust one another.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I was the only freshman on the varsity basketball team and the adjustment was tough. I played behind a senior who was an all-region, all-state player. I had to bust my butt during practice to earn playing time. As a sophomore, I returned and battled for the starting point guard spot and earned it. We won State Championships both years back to back.

What type of college are you looking for?

A college that is offering my major and that's going to allow me an opportunity to showcase my skills as a point guard. It doesn't matter the level, if they are interested in me then I'm interested in them.
