Shi has a fascinating skillset. The 6-foot-11 big man is strong and long, but he looks like a 6-foot-5 wing when he runs the break. The OTE bound senior had a few coast-to-coast finishes where he dribbled through multiple guards and then showcased the body control and pace to be able to slow himself down for finishes on the break. He was also a monster all day on the glass. Oh, and he made a couple three pointers, though this isn’t a consistent part of his game yet. Sky’s the limit for Shi, who has an awesome motor and the toughness necessary to be a scholarship big.

A strong, big and athletic kid. A great passer for his size, with a variety of low post moves because of his agile footwork. Aggressive near the rim, leading to fouls and having the ability to knock down his foul shots.

Big bruiser with excellent footwork who’s best with his back to the basket. Good finisher at the rim with both hands and makes some solid close-quarter catches when he needs to. Also showed a nice ability to run the floor for his teammates and create passing lanes. He doesn’t try to do too much and makes the right play every time.

Alan Shi made a statement on opening weekend and it looks like he’ll be one of the most imposing big man prospects in the league. Shi boasts a solid 6’11 frame and gets off the ground surprisingly quick for a guy his size. He averaged 4 blocks per game over the weekend and was a force on the glass as well. Shi should be of interest to plenty of LM-MM schools come July.

Shi’s injury riddled Brookline team lost the nightcap to BC High, but he was able to stand out on both ends of the floor. A modern stretch five, Shi is not afraid to get in the paint and mix it up, finishing through contact on multiple occasions. He’s comfortable handing the ball on the perimeter and proved to be a threat shooting the ball from behind the arc. Defensively, Shi is a physical post presence that rebounds above the rim and contests every shot in the paint.
