Carey Smith | Prep Hoops Scout
Hines is an athletic and physically imposing prospect (215 lbs.) who dominates games from inside the arc. During his senior campaign, Hines is posting 16.7 points per contest. He scored a season high 27 versus NW Lehigh and has produced five games of 20 or more points. Hines is a beast of a forward who is constantly in attack mode. Starting from the blocks, baseline, wing or elbow, Hines will put the ball on the deck, get to the rack and then finish with authority. Hines is also effective in the dunker spot as well as in pick-n-roll action. At the other end of the floor, Hines owns the defensive glass. The stellar play of Hines this season is major reason Whitehall is 14-2 in their last 16 games.

Hines is a physically imposing prospect (215 lbs.) who can dominate a game from the mid-range and the interior. Last season he averaged 11.8 points per contest. However, over his last six games of his sophomore year he increased that average to 15 points per game. Included in that stretch were nights of 18 and19 points as well as a season high 23 points vs. Abington Heights in the PIAA 5A tournament. Hines attacks the rim on every possession. He is especially skilled at starting from the elbows and getting to the tin off one or two dribbles Once he arrives at the cup, Hines can flush on an opponent’s head or avoid fouls with creative finishes. Hines is comfortable operating in the dunker spot too. He is a plus rebounder at both ends.

In August, Hines capped off a fantastic summer by being named as a standout performer at the Hoop Group Invite Only Camp. Now it is time for college coaches to stop sleeping on this 6’8”, 220-pound prospect with his speed, athleticism, and a non-stop motor. Hines scores in transition significantly more than other power forwards in SEPA. He will not hesitate to complete a fast break by dunking on an opponent. In the half-court, Hines (12 ppg. in 2023-24) can play bully ball in close and then score with either hand. He can also attack the cup off the dribble and work the offensive glass for second chance opportunities. On defense Hines is a plus defender who can switch 2 through 5.
