is an enticing combo guard/wing in the class of 2026 from Cummings High School in Burlington, N.C. At 6’4″, his length sets him apart. Gillespie is versatile on both ends of the floor and is one of the most complete players in his class. Last season was huge for AJ. His size and unique, all-around skillset provided some very much-needed production for this Cummings team. Gillespie averaged 13.9 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.6 spg, and 1.2 apg in his freshman campaign with the Cavaliers. He shot 51% from the field and 31% from three. Gillespie is a strong, tough, athletic kind of wing who can adjust his game to complement the four other guys sharing the floor with him. He is unselfish and epitomizes doing whatever it takes to win. Lock-down defender. Never afraid to compete down low and battle on the boards. Great out in transition. Crafty when driving downhill. While three-point shooting was a bit of a missing piece in his game, expect Gillespie to take advantage of grassroots play this summer to elevate his ability to knock down big-time shots from deep.

is a young wing prospect to get eyes on over at Cummings High in the Burlington area. He knows how to use his length in a variety of ways already at 6-foot-4 as evidenced by his production in the Cavaliers rotation in 2022-23. He produced 13.9 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.6 spg and 1.2 apg while shooting 51 percent from the floor and 31 percent from 3-point land. While he isn’t the premier sharpshooting threat just yet, he’s ready to show what he can do this summer with the
Durham Hurricanes
on the grassroots scene. He’s an athletic prospect to keep an eye on given his length and frame on the hardwood.

before, but his game really has put me on notice as a guy I should follow for the next couple years. He’s already got a good frame that sets him up well to succeed on both ends, and should be expected to continue to grow and get stronger over the coming months and years. On offense, he seems to have a pretty well rounded game, finishing at the cup and hitting outside jumpers as well. He’s more fluid than lots of kids his age as well, which sets him up for future success. Defensively he didn’t stand out, but his potential makes me a believer. He’s going to be a kid to monitor due to his high potential and college-level frame. That, combined with more development in his scoring skills, makes him a high level prospect.
