Aguer still has to work on becoming more efficient and consistent, but the potential is there to be a really good player. You don’t see guys with his 6’6+ frame who can move and handle it like him very often. He gets up and down the floor with ease, can guard nearly every spot on the floor, finished with either hand inside, and hit a couple of threes in the game I watched. There were times he was trying to force his offense too much, but he still had some really good moments throughout the game in a win for MN Laceup.

I was able to check out the Rochester Mayo wing in a few games this weekend. Aguer is an explosive playmaking wing and competes very hard for his MN Lace Up AAU team. Akech has a lot of size and length, but that does not stop him from initiating offense and making the right reads in the half court and transition. Aguer has a good feel of when to make a pass to his teammates and when to hunt his shot. Akech’s ability to score at all three levels was impressive. He is a consistent three point threat, can rise up to hit mid range jumpers, and can get to the rim at will. Aguer plays with intensity and max effort on every possession on both sides of the ball. Akech is a prospect you want to see in Prep Hoops events the rest of the spring and summer.

Akech was one of the better athletes I watched this weekend. He’s got the size and strength of a power forward and the mobility of a guard. This combination allows him to grab-n-go off the defensive glass, guard 1-5, and score over the top of the defense. Akech is a very dynamic prospect. He shoots the three-ball, scores off the dribble and catch, rebounds well, gets a lot of steals/deflections, and has an exceptional handle for his size.

Aguer is oozing with potential as a prospect and I liked what I saw on Sunday. The freshman wing has a long 6’4” frame and displayed a versatile skill set. He is a confident shooter from the perimeter, possessing smooth shot mechanics. He can put the ball on the floor and attack the basket aggressively, being able to finish through traffic. Akech could also use his size and length to defend inside, blocking and altering shots.
