The sophomore guard averaged nearly 19 points per game for the Lions and has carried that strong production into the spring. A high level shot maker, he shows deep range and is equally comfortable shooting off the catch or creating off the dribble. He plays with a high basketball IQ, using his handle to get downhill and either finish or create scoring opportunities for teammates.

Thompson was one of my favorite prospects at the Freshman Showcase this past August. He plays the game hard and with energy, and did a little bit of everything each time he was on the floor. He is an aggressive defender who won’t back down from any assignment, and is able to guard multiple positions. He is a great rebounder from the guard position on both ends of the floor, and likes to push the ball and get out and run. Offensively he has the ability to score inside and out, and has knack for attacking the basket and finishing at the rim with contact. Thompson has a lot of upside and as he matures his game could become a high-level prospect.
