Blame the Golden State Warriors and the proliferation of spread-out offenses. This grouping of wings can and will shoot exceptionally, and yet most of them are elite in another facet (rebounding, defense, slashing, effort, etc.)
Today, we feature the 30 best wing prospects in the entire state (Class of 2021 only). Are you a wing deserving of our attention? DM your stats, highlight, and name to @PrepHoopsTN.

Great catch-and-shoot guy. Incorporated pull-ups with more comfort and effectiveness in the last year. D1 coaches love his skill but wonder about his height for the position. Gym rat. Hurst Will effectively score at just about any level. Think slightly shorter J.J. Reddick.

Overall Ranking: 28
Wing Ranking: 17
Played a lot of 4/5 early in his AAU career and still gave Mt. Juliet minutes in the frontcourt. Riggs will ultimately be a small forward with exciting rebounding tenaciousness. Abner is one of many making the move to brand new school Green Hill High. Joining him or perhaps welcoming him there will be former Mt. Juliet Head Coach Troy Allen. Riggs has that rare component of height that instantly makes him a college target. His devotion to the game and wonderful skills elevate that from target to must-have. Stats: 11.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 4.2 assists, 47% from 3.

Peggs scored 19.4 ppg for a nearly unblemished Madison Academic team last winter. The 6.1 rebounds stood up as among the best rebounding tallies of any backcourt player in the state. Peggs is an intriguing athlete too. Knocked down 41% from 3-point land.

Bully of a player. Incredible power. Willis stagnated a bit in the last year, struggling against AAA players after moving “up”. Willis needs a better outside shot and when you get to college everybody is strong. There has to be more that makes you an elite player. Willis needs to keep adding to his game.

Bouncy wing. Jack Brown Jack Brown 6'4" | SG Maryville | 2021 State TN attacks the rim from all over the floor. Outside is better than most slashers. Ideal size for the position. Needs more good weight on his frame to handle the college physicality. He finished his junior season with 66% adjusted field goal. Brave in tight. Loves to attack defenders underneath their own basket. Aggression is one of his greatest intangibles. Improved outside shooting in the last year tremendously. Moves well without the basketball. Always looking, scouring for his next line of attack.

Very thin. Handle is ok, but should improve. For AAU Team Passion, Greg plays point guard. He classifies himself as a shooting guard. In truth, he can be a little bit of both. Perhaps his handle needs to improve to be a starting college point guard. Still, Moore possesses many intangibles of value. Sees the floor well and loves to incorporate his teammates. Great height for the point guard position. Needs to hit the weights. Natural plus quickness.

NBA Stylistic Comparison: 2019 Celtics Romeo Langford
College Projection: D2/D2+The Fall Combine generally merges many different styles into one gymnasium. Malachi Parham Malachi Parham 6'3" | CG Hume-Fogg | 2021 State TN was a fantastic scorer, both nimble and innovative in tight spaces. His style provided defenders constant problems. The combine or camp setting traditionally encourages a scorer’s mentality. Malachi is an innate scorer. What makes his game more enjoyable is the efficiency. He gets to the basket with sidesteps and crafty maneuvers.
His agility allows him to check the 1-2 positions. With good balance and an impressive wingspan, Malachi is poised to be a plus defender. There are great offensive players that need to recuperate briefly on the other end. They hide or are hidden by their teammates. Malachi Parham Malachi Parham 6'3" | CG Hume-Fogg | 2021 State TN is not this type of player. He possesses elite endurance and commits to the cause.
Parham’s wingspan is a +4 and he jumped 31 1/2″ off the ground. Though he stands 6-foot-1, he spread his wings to 6-foot-6. The average NBA draft pool player wingspan according to DraftExpress.com, going back two decades, is +4. More clearly put, Parham boasts the average NBA prospect wingspan.
Weaknesses are few. Physically, Malachi competes well. Of course he needs to, and all prep stars can, continue to develop the frame. Parham finishes very well in the lane now and projects to be a slasher for years to come. Finishing after a “high school foul” is markedly easier than absorbing a powerful college foul, so persistent weight training must remain a part of Malachi’s off-season regimen.
His willingness to work is inspiring. Malachi Parham Malachi Parham 6'3" | CG Hume-Fogg | 2021 State TN is a legitimate college basketball prospect.

Overall Ranking: 53
Wing Ranking: 30
Averaged 9.8 points per game for a 17-win basketball team. Fitzpatrick was physically advanced from his early teenage years. Now, Fitzpatrick dominates the glass (5.2 rpg). TF is a plus athlete. Not the best on-ball defender. Tends to react to every single subtle fake. This takes him out of the ideal defensive stance. Like every player on the FWHS team, Fitzpatrick plays well at high speed. Again, defense is an area he needs to improve. College basketball is a very reasonable possibility for the strong, agile wing scorer.

- All-Star Top 20
NBA Stylistic Comparison: 1992 Pistons Joe Dumars
College Projection: NAIA/NAIA+.Exceptional scoring instincts. Jaylan developed, through hours of practice and training, a keen awareness and sense of timing. He senses when he has time to shoot and when he doesn’t. By far Wetzel’s most marketable skill is outside shooting. He projects as an elite catch-and-shoot player in high school and beyond.
He gets into his shot very fluidly. From three point land Wetzel does not get much lift. For guards it is ideal to get off the deck. Higher release points obviously decrease the chances of a shot being effectively challenged. Wetzel is extremely efficient with his current shooting form.
Wetzel’s measurables appeared unconventional. He did not record a very quick lane agility (traversing the lane in a rectangular sprint) with times of 13.55 and 13.71. These times are slightly below average for quick guards. While his lateral speed was measured relatively slow, his vertical explosion was a bit better than average. Typically, the two are both good or both bad. Jaylan bounded 31″ off the hardwood to impress during the vertical leap.
He projects as a scorer, possibly a sizzling super sub in college. It is easy to imagine Jaylan coming in as a sixth man and instantly infusing his team with scoring punch.
