[player_tooltip player_id="850662" first="Will" last="Richardson"] | Bergen Catholic

Richardson was arguably the best sophomore in the state this season. He averaged 18.7 points per game and was a Third Team All-State selection. Richardson took his game to another level when the game’s mattered the most. He scored 29 points in a late season win over Don Bosco and 21 in the very next game against St. Peter’s Prep. He could score from anywhere on the floor, whether it was from deep or in the lane. Richardson will combine with [player_tooltip player_id="850683" first="Julian" last="Brown"] to create one of the best backcourts in the state over the next two years.

[player_tooltip player_id="850664" first="Mark" last="Armstrong"] | St. Peter’s Prep

There was a big three in the Class of 2022 this season and Armstrong was another part of it. He scored 558 points for an average of 19.9 per game. He went into double-figures in every game he played this season and eclipsed 20 points 15 times. Armstrong has great size as a point guard and used that size along with his speed to score in the lane at will. Armstrong is a top prospect in the state and could turn into the best player shortly.

[player_tooltip player_id="787669" first="Corey" last="Floyd Jr"]. | Roselle Catholic

The final piece of the big three. Floyd is a Division I player right now and programs have realized that. Floyd already has a number of offers and they will continue to pour in. He is a talented scorer in many ways. He can shoot from deep, pull up off the dribble or get to the rim. Floyd is the rare player that makes the game look a lot easier than it is. Roselle Catholic breeds Division I and NBA talent, and they may have another in Floyd.

[player_tooltip player_id="787655" first="Jayden" last="Pierre"] | Elizabeth

Elizabeth turned into a top five team this season led by [player_tooltip player_id="850359" first="Jordan" last="Price"] and Pierre in the backcourt. The culture at Elizabeth changed when Phil Colicchio took over and Pierre entered. He was a big time scorer and averaged over four assists per game. Pierre is smart with the ball in his hands. His athleticism and versatility are impressive from someone of his age. Pierre will continue to grow and get better over the next two years.

[player_tooltip player_id="850673" first="Maurice" last="Odum"] | Union City

How can we make a first team list without the top scorer in the state? Odum finished No. 1 in points with 737 total in his sophomore season. That is an incredible number. He scored 30 or more points eight times including a season-high 38 points in a loss to North Bergen. Along with 27.3 points per game, Odum also dished out 4.3 assists. He was also near the top of the state with 86 three’s made. He is just a dynamic scorer in every sense of the word.
