For many years, Vegas has been a hotbed for talented floor generals, Jamal Smith, Marcus Banks, and Pierre Jackson are just a few of the names that come to mind. In this article, we take a look at the top 10 PG’s in the class of 2022.
- Milos Uzan Milos Uzan 6'4" | PG Dream City Christian | 2022 State #60 Nation AZ 6’3 Desert Pines (#1) – Clear cut for the number 1 spot. The Northeast conference assist leader is one of the top high IQ players in the nation. Cerebral control of the game with a high-level skill set that includes passing and ballhandling ability. High major guy with offers from several Pac 12 schools including UCLA.
- Tavionte Jackson Tavionte Jackson 6'1" | PG Las Vegas | 2022 NV 6’1 Las Vegas (#6) – Don’t look now, but Jackson is climbing the rankings. A scoring PG with the knack for grabbing boards, Jackson put together an impressive high school season including leading the Northeast in scoring. He was also looking good in early grassroots season events. He’s quick and can knock down shots in catch and shoot situations. Until games start back up, it’s difficult to pinpoint what level he is, but his production speaks for itself.
- Jamir Stephens Jamir Stephens 6'1" | CG Desert Pines | 2022 State NV 6’1 Desert Pines (#11) – Stephens is a quick PG that is productive in both backcourt positions. He’s at his best when running the floor, however, his on-ball defensive ability allows him to play the 1 for extended minutes.
- Damion Byrd Damion Byrd 5'10" | PG Silverado | 2022 State NV 5’11 Silverado (#7) – It’s been difficult to watch Byrd live, first because of his absence at Silverado, and now with the game on pause. He’s a cerebral pass-first player that leads by example.
- Elijah Johnson Elijah Johnson 5'10" | PG Durango | 2022 NV 5’10 Durango (#19) – It may not be in anyone’s best interest to challenge Johnson off the dribble. One of the top on-ball defenders in the state, I have personally watched him pick up everyone from the aforementioned #1 Uzan, to Jaden Hardy Jaden Hardy 6'4" | CG Coronado | 2021 State #4 Nation NV full court.
