Joe Anderson Joe Anderson 6'0" | PG Maryville | 2020 State TN (Maryville) GRADE: A-
The offensive impact of Joe Anderson Joe Anderson 6'0" | PG Maryville | 2020 State TN was tremendous and the senior even shot poorly for the first stretch of play. Anderson’s composure and court vision are elite, among the best in the entire state. He finished with 12 points and the Regional Championship.
Jacobi Wood Jacobi Wood 6'2" | PG Cleveland | 2020 State #411 Nation TN (Cleveland) GRADE: B-
Though Cleveland entered the final quarter, at Bradley Central High, with a lead, they did not get there smoothly. Read about the first half. JaCobi Wood, depending upon your perspective, earned or endured two charge calls in the second quarter. Coupled with the pair in the first quarter, Wood oddly picked up four first half fouls. When he did play during the second quarter Wood was remarkably dominant. Wood scored plenty, but as a senior leader he has to be on the floor more often. The foul calls were either bad or justified. Maybe it isn’t fair to hold JaCobi accountable for the referees, but he has to find a way to be out there. Cleveland moves on.
Antonio Whaley (Cleveland) GRADE: A
Tipped a ball free in the final minute. He created a turnover when Bradley Central had to get points. Whaley did that all night long. With Wood sitting much of the third quarter, Whaley’s defensive contributions truly mattered. Scored 9 points.
Ray Tyler Ray Tyler 5'9" | PG Blackman | 2020 State TN (Blackman) GRADE: B
Ray Tyler Ray Tyler 5'9" | PG Blackman | 2020 State TN helped his Blackman Blaze defeat Oakland and Siegel within 3 days. Think about that. Ray Tyler Ray Tyler 5'9" | PG Blackman | 2020 State TN , a transfer from Oakland, ends his friends’ season and then manages to defeat a wildly athletic Siegel team ( Zion Swader Zion Swader 6'0" | PG Siegel | 2021 State TN , Matthew Schneider Matthew Schneider 6'5" | CG Siegel | 2021 State TN , Jaylan Wetzel Jaylan Wetzel 6'1" | SG Siegel | 2021 State TN , Martise Jackson Martise Jackson 6'3" | CG Siegel | 2021 State TN ). He scored in double figures Thursday night.
Zion Swader Zion Swader 6'0" | PG Siegel | 2021 State TN (Siegel) GRADE: C+
Harsh? Always judge a point guard by his wins/losses. Like a quarterback or a starting pitcher, they have the ability to most consistently impact a basketball game. Zion Swader Zion Swader 6'0" | PG Siegel | 2021 State TN is a winner. He has won, he will win. Tonight he and his Stars lost. They get one more chance Monday at Cleveland High. In the low-scoring game, Zion scored 9 points. His team managed just 47 total. Swader played better than his average overall though, as he kept turnovers very, very low against an exceptional defense (Blackman).
