College Commitment: Evan Inglesby (2020 Barlow HS)

Out of anyone in the Class of 2020, the recruiting process might have been the most interesting for Evan Inglesby. The all-around 6-foot-4, 180-pound wing was getting looked at by college programs at every level conceivable with all sorts of options on the table both now and in the future. But when it all came down to it, Inglesby had his mind set on one top possibility and on Sunday afternoon, he made the decision to commit to Gonzaga.

"They offered me a walk-on spot back at the LSI and after lots of thinking and researching I decided to pull the trigger," Inglesby said. "GU had been my number one for awhile now and I officially got accepted at the school at the end of last week and that info was the final thing I was waiting for. I felt the time was right to get it out of my head and focus on making a strong run at the state championship."

Inglesby had been getting offers from NAIA schools, possible opportunities at Division II schools, and other Division I schools talking about walk-on spots. In the end, Gonzaga won out and Inglesby went into more detail why.

"What is different about Gonzaga is how strong their academics are," Inglesby said. "They have a Top 10 business program in the country so that stood out to me right away. I also love the city of Spokane and it's a really cool friendly city and a place I could see myself living. The opportunities there are huge not only in my career preparation but also the chance to play D-I basketball."

"It's always been a dream to play at this level and will be an experience I can't have anywhere else," Inglseby continued. "I love Gonzaga for the school itself and the basketball portion is just a bonus for me."

As noted, Inglesby originally got the walk-on offer during the Les Schwab Invitational in Decmeber and he then made a campus visit in January. With everything all done with his recruitment, he now turns his focus on the rest of the season - one in which the Bruins are hoping to continue riding their winning wave towards the title.

"It's going to take our team to commit to each other and really play together and for one another for all the playoff games," Inglesby said.

With his commitment, Inglesby joins a pipeline of players from Oregon to suit up for the Zags.  Currently, 2018 Jesuit grad Matthew Lang and 2018 South Eugene grad Will Graves are on the Bulldogs roster.

Inglesby currently stands in the 6A state top ten in scoring at just over 20 points per game. He ranks as the #10 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
