When Sides Collide Shootout Preview
This Saturday is one of the premier events of the season. The When Sides Collide Shootout run by our friend Joe Henricksen is a four game shootout held at Glenbard East High School and is loaded with prospects!
You could also call this the junior showcase with the amount of high level 2021 talent that will be on the floor. Seven of the top 11 juniors in the state will be in the house!
To kick things off at 2:30 PM Glenbard East and Aurora Christian will feature Taaj Davis who has been lighting up the nets lately. The lefty unsigned senior point guard recently dropped back to back 50+ point performances!
Bloom vs Evanston could be the game of the day with both looking like 4A state title contenders. It is a battle of seniors vs juniors. Bloom has five D1 2020 prospects in Dante Maddox (Cal State Fullerton), Donovan Newby (UW-Milwaukee), Keshawn Williams (Tulsa), Martice Mitchell (Minnesota), and Christian Shumate. Evanston counters with their quartet of juniors in Jaylin Gibson, Blake Peters, Elijah Bull, and Isaiah Holden. Don’t be surprised if these two matchup late in March!
Fenwick and Rolling Meadows is up next! This one is easy to see the headline as the #1 and #2 juniors will go head to head. Max Christie from Rolling Meadows is considered the top prospect regardless of class in the state with his choice of any college he wants to go to. On the other side Fenwick’s Bryce Hopkins has already given his verbal commitment to Louisville. Both have posted monster numbers as juniors. A couple of underclassmen that are tracking as high level prospects down the line to watch are Trey Pettigrew (Fenwick) and Cam Christie (Rolling Meadows).
The last game of the night is Simeon vs Niles Notre Dame. Simeon is led by a perimeter trio of the top unsigned senior wing Jeremiah Williams, junior DePaul commit Ahamad Bynum, and top sophomore guard Jaylen Drane. Niles Notre Dame has quite a trio of their own with three big time 2021 prospects in Louis Lesmond, Troy D’Amico, and Anthony Sayles.
