The Bluejays reclaim the top spot in the rankings after another good week. The Bluejays handled Williston and then earned a good win over a solid Dickinson team, getting 58 combined points from Boden Skunberg, Brooks Carrol and Carson Lamp.
Fargo Davies
The last team to take a loss this year, the Eagles earned arguably the most impressive win of the season Friday night in a blowout win over West Fargo Sheyenne but followed it up with one of the most confounding losses against Grand Forks Central. At their best, the Eagles can win a state title, but that loss certainly raises some concerns.
West Fargo Sheyenne
The Mustangs’ loss to Fargo Davies was certainly a setback, but they’ve proven to be a cut above much of the rest of the state. West Fargo Sheyenne’s defense has been a definite strength this year and Blake Berg looks like the frontrunner in the EDC Player-of-the-Year running.
Bismarck
The Demons might be the hottest team in the state. Since losing by four points to Jamestown in the first week of the season, Bismarck has won five straight, including back-to-back wins over Bismarck Century and Minot this past week. Armed with the most explosive offense in the state, the Demons knocked down 15 3-pointers in their upset win over the Magicians.
Minot
The Magicians fell victim to Bismarck last week but have shown they are good enough to win at the highest levels. Jaxon Gunville is having a Player-of-the-Year type season, averaging 24.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He dropped 38 in the win over Mandan last week.
Dickinson
The Midgets took a loss to Jamestown last week, mustering just 59 points. 49 of those were courtesy of Jaiden Wright and Kobe Krenz but both guys had to work exceptionally hard to get to that number.
Grand Forks Red River
The Roughriders needed the holiday break apparently, as they’ve been hot since the break. Currently riding a five-game winning streak, Grand Forks Red River is getting terrific play from Brady Dvorak and rock-solid efforts from guys like Cole Benson, Bryce Enerson and Kobe Springer.
Devils Lake
The Firebirds had a rare week off last week, so they avoided taking any losses like so many other top teams. Grant Nelson has been a monster so far this year. Things will pick up in the next few weeks as they face West Fargo Sheyenne this week plus Fargo Davies the following week.
Bismarck Century
The Patriots took a loss to No. 4 Bismarck early in the week but rebounded with a win over Bismarck St. Mary’s. The formula for Century is consistent in that the Patriots will win with solid defense and enough offense from Cade Feeney and company.
Bismarck Legacy
The Sabers lost to Mandan last Friday and have struggled offensively in recent weeks, scoring just 54 points per game in their last three games. Rhett Clements came back last week after missing a few games, and was good against the Braves, scoring 19 points and grabbing five rebounds.
