The Weekend Menu
Looking for some good games to see Friday night and Saturday? Here are the appetizers, specials, main course, and deserts of an upcoming weekend that has several quality games.
Tasty Appetizer. Lincoln vs Roosevelt. The Rough Riders are undefeated through three games beating O’Gorman and Washington, can they make it an early season local sweep? Lincoln is 2-1 with the loss coming to the defending champion Brandon Valley club. Roosevelt’s big moment this year was Tyler Feldkamp’s steal and push the other direction for the game clinching foul shots. It’s an early season moment that has been talked about a lot this year already. Do Tyler and Roosevelt have in it them for another early season big moment? You know they want that early season Sioux Falls sweep. Sam Fawcett and his team high 15.3 points a game will be on the other side of the court ready to try and slow them down.
The Special. Tonight’s top ten battle is 5th ranked Tea Area against 8th ranked Vermillion. The defending champs have won two of three and sophomore wing Cael Lundin has stepped forward as a player that eyes need to be on. He’s had a couple monster scoring games already plus he’s rebounding like an experienced senior. Junior Garrett Kolbeck is a strong shooter for the Titans as well. The Tanagers are 3-0 and they have hammered three Class B opponents but tonight they step up to the A level. Junior guard Jakob Dobney is one to watch for Vermillion.
Main Course. Roosevelt has the big local rivalry game tonight and then turn around and travel to Huron to play another talented team 24 hours later. Huron lost to Washington by a score last night and they will have an extra 24 hours of rest, and an extra 24 hours to figure out what didn’t work on Thursday and change it up at home on Saturday. So much talent on the floor with Keegan Evers, Tyler Feldkamp, Kobe Busch, and Tucker Large. An excellent Saturday night game.
Dessert. Our sneaky sweet game of the weekend could be 9th ranked Madison (3-1) versus Red Cloud in the Corn Palace. This game is a part of the Sacred Hoops Classic which also includes Crow Creek vs West Central and other games, but we really like the Bulldogs vs Crusaders contest. Six foot junior guard Beau Donovan is a player we have our eyes on for Red Cloud while 6-foot-3 Madison senior Tyler Tappe is a big number guy for the Dogs.
