Here are some of the top games coming up this weekend:
Hillsboro/Central Valley at Richland, 7:30 p.m., Friday, December 27
This one isn’t part of a tournament or showcase, but it might be the best matchup of the weekend. No. 1 Hillsboro/Central Valley heads to Colfax to take on No. 3 Richland for what could be a state tournament semifinal or state title game preview.
Both teams have excellent returning talent, a lot of experience and enough size and athleticism to win a state championship. Both teams have all-state caliber players at multiple positions and both excel on both ends of the floor. Carson Henningsgard against Carter Lingen at point guard should be great. Gavin Reiland and Cole Myers against Patrick Limke and Landen Reed on the wings. It should be a great matchup.
New Rockford-Sheyenne at Central Cass, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, December 28
Here’s another non-region contest that should be fun as New Rockford-Sheyenne heads to Casselton to take on the Squirrels. The Rockets have enough returning talent to contend in what should be a loaded Region 4 thanks to Bo Belquist and Hunter Thompson while Central Cass is an up-and-coming team that could be a sleeper in Region 1.
Hoopster and Dan Brown Classics, Friday-Saturday, December 27-28
The Hoopster and Dan Brown Classics in Minot always bring some of the best teams from the state and this year will be no different. There are a bevy of excellent matchups over the course of Friday and Saturday featured numerous ranked clubs.
Friday games like Shiloh Christian vs Langdon/Edmore/Munich, Beulah vs. Rugby and Thompson vs Dickinson Trinity should be excellent while Saturday bouts featuring St. John vs Beula and Four Winds/Minnewaukan vs. Dickinson Trinity plus many others should make for two awesome days worth of hoops.
