Hosted by recruiting legend Gerry Freitas this event brings together some of the best programs from Southern California to face off against some of the best programs from Las Vegas. There will be plenty of star power on display. In this article, PH takes a look at some of the top underclassmen participating in the event.
Jacob Huggins 6’7 PF Harvard – Westlake 2023 – 6-foot-7, Huggins is a long, athletic and versatile defender. He has a nice touch around the basketball and is a good rebounder.
Sebastian Mack 6’1 SG Durango 2023 (#1PHN 2023) – Mack is an explosive scorer with a lighting quick first step. Knockdown shooter with legit range out to the NBA 3.
Sterling Knox 6’3 SG Durango 2023 (#3PHN 2023) – Knox is already a terrific shooter for his age. Has great shot prep and the ability to be efficient in catch and shoot situations.
Jaden Fisher 5’10 PG Desert Oasis 2023 (#9PHN 2023) – The young PG is getting his feet wet early on in the season. He has seen action in all 3 games so far including scoring 5 against National Power Wasatch on Monday.
Curtis Williams 6’2 SG Etiwanda 2023 – This will be my first look in person at the young freshmen. Williams has good size, court vision, and a solid mid-range game.
Jared McCain 6’2 SG Corona Centennial 2023 – Dribble drive playmaker that can create shots for himself. Has deceptively quick hands on the defensive end, with the ability to turn defense into offense.
Barrington Hargress 6’1 PG Ribet Academy 2022 – High IQ player that contributed as a freshman. Hargress is a good defender, that can turn defense into offense. Speedy PG with the ability to finish through contact. Scrappy guard that loves to steal rebounds away from bigs.
Milos Uzan 6’3 PG Desert Pines 2022 (#3PHN 2022) – The floor general of the Jaguars has a refined handle and is an excellent passer. Uzan has the ability to perfectly place the ball in teammates’ hands whether stationary or off the bounce.
Jaxon Kholer 6’8 PF Coronado 2022 (#1PHN 2022) – Kholer is a good low post player with terrific feet. He has a variety of go-to moves that he uses around the basket, plus the ability to finish with either hand.
Randi Ovalle 6’7 SF San Gabriel Academy 2022 – There has been a ton of chatter about Ovalle lately. The import for the Dominican Republic will definitely be a young player to keep an eye on. The 6’7 forward has guard skills including the ability to knock down 3’s and defend out on the perimeter when asked to switch ball screens.
Joshua Jefferson 6’7 PF Liberty 2022 (#4PHN 2022) – Jefferson has soft hands and an array of post moves. A throwback post, that understands positions and pump fakes. Jefferson will not wow you with his athleticism he will, however, destroy opponents down low with patience and fundamentals. Going to be intriguing to watch him battle the Nations #1 player down low.
