Kevin Brown Memorial Tournament of Champions Preview

The Tournament of Champions in Washington, Illinois has become the premier high school basketball tournament to kick off the season. This event features teams from Illinois and squads from around the nation with some of the best prospects in the country. This year’s event has been renamed to honor legendary Washington coach Kevin Brown who passed away from cancer. Coach Brown was one of the best coaches in the state and an even better person. Below is our preview of the 2019 Kevin Brown Memorial TOC!

So who are the out of state headliners this year? North Carolina commit Walker Kessler (Woodward Academy) is the top ranked prospect. Kessler is a skilled face up post that can shoot, handle, and rebound. JD Davidson (The Calhoun School) and Barry Dunning (McGill-Toolen) are two of the top young prospects in the state of Alabama regardless of class. DaRon Holmes (Goodyear Millennium) lit it up on the PrepHoops Circuit and has emerged as a top 30 junior nationally with his elite athleticism. Yaya Keita and Sekou Gassama (Desmet) are two of the best post prospects in the Midwest in 2021. Jaylin Williams (Fort Smith) is an intriguing big man that will be making his college commitment between Auburn and Arkansas this upcoming Wednesday. Indiana will be well represented with five-star sophomore Jalen Washington (Gary Westside) and Hoosiers commit Trey Galloway (Culvers Academy).

How about our guys from Illinois? There will be over 40 prospects that are currently ranked by PrepHoopsIllinois who will be participating in the event! The star of all stars is Adam Miller from Morgan Park. The top 30 prospect nationally is one of the truly elite players from the state of Illinois. He will make his college choice this upcoming Thursday. Miller is joined in the backcourt by a pair of high-major prospects in Marcus Watson (Wake Forest commit) and Brandon Weston.
