PLAYER OF THE YEAR – Jakobe Thompson
Thompson was the conference’s third-leading scorer as a sophomore, posting 19.3 ppg. The high volume scorer also added 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. A silky smooth lefty who’s fearless when attacking the rim, Thompson has a loaded group of young talent behind him, making Case the preseason favorite.
BREAKOUT PLAYER – Carter Capstran
With Zak Klug and Jacob Vonderwell graduating, Capstran steps to the forefront in Franklin’s lineup. The skilled and physical forward averaged just shy of 13 points per game for a Sabre squad that won 19 games last season. He shot 55.2 percent from the field and showed over the summer much improved mid-range and 3-point shooting ability.
SURPRISE PLAYER – Stevie Henderson
Henderson has played in a loaded lineup for the past few seasons. Park is now in rebuilding mode with Nobal Days, Larry Canady, and others now gone and will turn to Henderson to help ease the transition. As a junior, Henderson averaged six points per game, but showed some flashes in a handful of games last season.
