Continue ReadingThe 2022 class is entering their second season as high school athletes, and there are prospects that are poised for big time roles this season. Avoiding a “sophomore” slump is critical for these guys. When players are given expanded roles, consistency is the biggest ingredient to pay attention to. Check out these five elite 2022 prospects:
Barry Dunning (McGill-Toolen)- Barry will have a larger role this season. This 6’6 forward can play inside/out and compliments Cole Larue very well. With his athleticism, length, and playmaking ability on both ends, Barry should be relied on more this season. Showing consistent play and versatility will keep HM D1 programs coming back for more.
Will Shaver (Oak Mountain)- Will is a post prospect with the highest ceiling in the 2022 class. This kid is 6’8, moves very well on the court, and has a growing skill set. He has the ability to stretch the floor offensively, has very good footwork, and keeps balls alive on the glass. Oak Mountain is known for running specific actions, but Will should average a double double easily this season.
Jonathan Murray (Huffman)- Murray is a 6’6 forward who can do it all. As his skill set has improved, Huffman can play through this 2022 prospect more. There will not be many athletes in the Birmingham area with his mixture of size and skill. I want to see Murray be aggressive this season and show a improved well rounded game.
J’Quan Broxson (Geneva Co)- Broxson is a 6’5 athlete. This kid is one of the best athletes in this class. He does a great job finishing strong, playing in the open court, and he rebounds extremely well. In year 2, I want to see improved playmaking and ball handling from Broxson. Show us you are more than a gifted athlete.
Tai Hayes (Mae Jemison)- I really like the way Tai plays. This 6’7 forward plays with athleticism, a high motor, and aggression. Tai is a really good help side defender and rebounds the ball at a high level on both ends. He is really good finisher and has soft hands. Would love to see expanded range and more ball skill, but this kid plays hard and stays in his role.
